Shanghai Exchange G6-9
China Language and Culture Exchange Trip
Mulgrave started a ‘sister school’ relationship with The Shanghai United International School (SUIS) in Shanghai, China in 2013. This relationship offers many exciting possibilities between our two schools, including a two-week China homestay exchange trip to provide a Chinese language and cultural experience. The trip is primarily intended for students in Grades 6-9 who are learning Chinese but other students may take part if spaces are available.
Each Mulgrave student is matched with a student from our partner school in Shanghai and is expected to host that student in their home for a two week period, during term time between late January and early February. The partner student attends lessons at Mulgrave and participates in a range of English language and cultural activities during the two week period.
Mulgrave’s two-week trip to Shanghai usually takes place in the spring. Mulgrave students stay in the home of their exchange partner, attend some lessons at SUIS, have Chinese language lessons and do some cultural visits to different parts of Shanghai. The experience is a valuable language and cultural immersion that allows our students to broaden their international experience and understanding.
